My teenage daughter has always taken special delight in receiving anyt hing in the mail. She opens every envelope and package the moment she takes it in her hands.

A few nights ago, when we were checking through a basket of cards, she discovered an unopened envelope addressed to her, having a postage(邮戳) date of over four years ago.

“What’s this?” she asked . “ How did I miss this ? How did it get here?”

She opened it up and inside was a handwritten note from a teacher at her former middle school. She had written a note to my daughter in praise of how much progress she had shown with her hard work in the math class. She asked my daughter to come to see her and share her goals for the coming nine-week semester. The note included that my daughter should always work hard in order to enjoy continued success.

Well, the teacher could not have known how much my daughter needed that message at this exact time of her life . She had just recently found a new job.

She immediately sat down and wrote the woman a detailed update(详细的情况) on her life all these years later and a “thank you”. She thanked her for the life lesson that had found her  at just the right moment.
